Description
On a finger of land jutting out into the narrowest and deepest part of the Rhine River stands a statue of Lorelei. According to legend hundreds of years old, Lorelei was a siren of such beauty that many sailors wrecked their ships on the treacherous shore in an attempt to reach her. The 16 foot high statue sits on a small hill among bushes with an expansive view of the river and the small riverside towns of St. Goar and St. Goarshausen, and their castles.
