Wildflowers growing in the CVNP Beaver Marsh area late in the summer of 2021. I believe these are Jerusalem Artichokes, a form of sunflower. They are not true artichokes, but they bloom late in summer and fall and produce an edible tuber. They were an important food source for Native Americans and early colonists.
The “Jerusalem” moniker is believed to be a corruption of the Italian word for “sunflower” (girasole, pronounced “jeer-uh-so-lay”).

Hello and welcome to my imagination! My interest in computers started back in college in the days of punch cards and led me to a career in engineering. My passion for photography started with film cameras and a portrait that earned a blue ribbon at the county fair. Now, after a 42 year career designing machines in the U.S. Midwest, I am putting my artistic side first and trading patents for pixels, ergonomics for aesthetics and practicality for pleasure. Please browse through my work and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!
