Description
This was a low level photo taken in the early morning mist at the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial near Luxembourg City. The over 5, 000 graves are of American Servicemen from World War II, many of whom died in the battle of the bulge, Germany's last major counteroffensive.
General George S. Patton is buried at the focus of 9 sections of graves.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and immaculately kept.
This photo placed 3rd in the July/August 2012 "Emotions in Art" contest, tied for 2nd in the February 2020 "Honor and Sacrifice" contest and was featured in the March 2013 issue of "Under the Hat" magazine.
